Extraordinary concert Violoncellissimo – From Baroque to… Rock, in Sofia

On Sunday, 11 February 2024, from 19:00 hours, violoncellist Marin Cazacu and Violoncellissimo will perform an extraordinary concert on the stage of Sofia Philharmonic, with a very diverse repertoire: all genres of music, adapted for violoncello, from the sound track of famous movies to …rock versions of valses, marches and works by Mozart. It is not by chance that the concert is called De la Baroc la… Rock / From Baroque to… Rock.

Violoncellissimo Project, initiated by professor Marin Cazacu more than 30 years ago, started from a desire to develop the creativity of his students and to get the audience closer to the music, regardless of its genre, of the education or preference of the audience or the place where the event takes place. Moreover, in 2024, maestro Marin Cazacu and Violoncellissimo group aim to reach as many communities as possible, including the Romanians in the diaspora, in a series of Turnee de poveste…pretutindeni / Magic Tours… Far and Wide….
Violoncellissimo includes the best cellists in the country, being one of the well-known Romanian chamber music groups in the past decades. Marin Cazacu is the general director of George Enescu Philharmonic and violoncello professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest. Maestro Cazacu has performed in time along with Ghennadi Rojdestvenski, Sergiu Comissiona, Horia Andreescu, Antoni Ros Marba, Vladimir Orlov, Radu Aldulescu or Jeremy Menuhin. He also participated in numerous international festivals such as in Berlin, Hong-Kong, Macao, Munich, Milan, Osaka, Seoul, Tokio.
The concert of 11 February in Sofia takes place with support of JTI.
